Dear Parents/ Guardians,
Today we reached the mid-point in the first trimester. Mid-trimester reports will be sent home on Monday. Be sure to look for these so that you can see how your children are progressing.
Now that we are at the end of the month of September, this is a good time to remind you that the General Service Fee and Noon Supervision Fee must be paid by December. If you have not already paid these fees, you may want to begin a plan for payments so that both fees are paid in full by December.
Students in grades kindergarten-grade 4 will be taking a field trip to the Shedd Aquarium on Tuesday. Students will be leaving OLG at 9:30 and returning at 1:30.
Next Friday is Heritage Day. An all-school Mass will be celebrated at 8:15. The students in grade 2 have planned the liturgy. We encourage you to attend this Eucharist and join us in prayer as we give thanks to God for the diversity of cultures that exist in our student population. Teachers will be planning various activities in their classrooms to celebrate the diversity of cultures. This is not a dress down day for the students. However, if your children want to wear the native clothing of their heritage, the may do so.
The monthly meeting of Grace's Proud Parents will be held on Wednesday evening at 7:00 pm in room 104. There was a wonderful group of parents last month. Come and share your ideas.
The fall fund raiser end on Wednesday. If you sold items from the Charleston Wrap brochures, the order forms and money must be returned by Wednesday. The World's Finest chocolate bars will continue to be sold. IF you ordered boxes of chocolates, please come and get them.
If you have children in grades 3-8 who have been baptized but have not made their First Communion and you would like them prepared for the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist, please send me a note. I will begin classes with the students in January to prepare them for the reception of these sacraments.
In Sunday's Gospel the Apostles witness a man who is not a follower of Jesus using Jesus' name to exorcise evil spirits. They are scandalized because they believe that only the followers of Jesus are entitled to such power. When John reports what they have seen, Jesus is not at all upset. Never try to jeep anyone from doing good, Jesus tells John and the others.
We may need to remind ourselves of this important truth often. The spirit of God moves where it will. No group holds the exclusive rights on doing good deeds.
COME TO MASS ON SUNDAY AND WITNESS TH WORKING OF THE SPIRIT.
