September 20, 2018

There are no classes for the students tomorrow. Teachers will be participating in professional development.

A wonderful group of parents and students were present for the Family Mass last Saturday. Thank you for your presence. I encourage you to attend Mass each weekend with your family members. The Lord will reward you for you sharing your faith with your children.

School pictures will be taken next Wednesday. Students do not need to wear their school uniforms. Students should be "dressed up" in brightly colored clothing. No jeans or t-shirts may be worn. Envelopes were sent home last Friday. Each of your children needs to return a separate envelope with the exact amount of money enclosed and marked with the package you intend to purchase. Please note that if you do not wish to purchase the MVP (My Virtual Photo) download the cost of the package is less. The price of each package without the MVP download is located at the bottom of each package.

Last Friday, you received the brochures for Charleston Wrap. Along with the items found in the brochures, World's Finest chocolate bars will be sold. If you ordered cases of these bares, they are available in the school office for pickup. Let's make this a successful fall fund raiser. Reach out to your family and friends. With the money earned, we will put the profit toward the new computers that were purchased for the computer lab and also for tuition assistance.

This is the first of the fundraisers. We will be selling Krispy Kreme donuts in January, a spring fund raiser, and the Walk-a-Thon in May. All students participate in the Walk-a-Thon by securing pledges so you might want to keep this in mind as you plan on how you will meet your fund raising fee.

Next Friday, September 28, is the mid-point in the first trimester. Mid-trimester reports will be sent home on Monday, October 1. These reports will indicate the progress of your children have made to this point.

Jesus seems a bit hard on the Apostles in Sunday's Gospel. What's wrong with wanting to be first? Isn't that the stuff that makes good leaders? Not in my kingdom, Jesus says. People who are truly first don't get there by thinking about being first. They are too busy thinking about and serving others. Leaders in the kingdom of heaven work at becoming their best selves by putting others first and themselves second. They are centered not in themselves, but in love of God and neighbor.

COME TO MASS ON SUNDAY AND CENTER YOURSELF IN JESUS.
