Dear Parents/Guardians,

There will be no classes for the students next Friday. Teachers will be participating in professional development.

Tomorrow afternoon at 4:00 our first “Family Mass” of this school year will be celebrated. Grades two and seven have planned this Mass. Thanks to all those who will be ministering as readers, gift bearers, choir members and altar servers. Be sure to come with your family and model the faith for your children. Following the Mass, there will be an ice cream social in the school hall.

The sacrament of Confirmation will be conferred on our seventh and eighth grade students in less than two months. There is a meeting on Thursday evening at 7:00 for parents and sponsors of the students who will be confirmed. This is a mandatory meeting for parents and sponsors.

The fall fund raiser begins on Wednesday. You are receiving two brochures from Charleston Wrap. Orders from these brochures are due on Wednesday, October 3. You may also get family and friends to buy online as well. In addition to the items in the brochures, we are selling World’s Finest chocolate bars. You may get the boxes you ordered in the office. Bars sell for $1. A box of bars costs $60 and must be paid at the time of pickup.

Holy Trinity High School is sponsoring a shadow day for our 8th grade students on Tuesday. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to see what Holy Trinity has to offer.

Hispanic Heritage Month begins tomorrow. Classes will celebrate this event in various ways.

Thanks to all those who helped with the taco sale this past Sunday. The taco sale netted a profit of $587.82 for the teachers’ Christmas fund.

In Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus warns His friends that He will be put to death. Peter protests. How can this be? Jesus is the Messiah, the one who will restore Israel to glory. A suffering, dying, and defeated Jesus contradicts everything that Peter believes.

Jesus then explains that He has not come to win political glory, but to destroy the everlasting death that sin causes. By losing His earthly life, Jesus will free people from the lasting power of death. To share in His victory, they must shoulder the crosses that come their way. They must do as Jesus does, deny themselves and live for others.

ATTEND MASS ON SATURDAY EVENING WITH YOUR FAMILY.
