Parent Letter 06/01/2018
Do you realize that another school year is about to end? It seems that your children were beginning the year just a short time ago. Many students, as well as parents, have commented on how quickly the year went. THANKS to all of you for making this a wonderful year. Thanks for giving your children a Catholic education at Our Lady of Grace. I realize the sacrifices you made to give this gift to your children.
Thanks for the support you gave to your children's teachers and for your participation in the various events that were scheduled throughout the year. In the name of the entire faculty, and staff Grace's Proud Parents, and the School Board, I thank you for the gifts you shared, especially your most precious gifts- your children. I look forward to your partnership next year as we welcome your children in August to begin our 118th year of Catholic education at OLG. With your continued support, great things will continue to happen at OLG.
Thanks to all of you who have already registered your children for 2018-2019. If you have not registered your children as yet, I encourage you to do this soon. Once a class is full, we cannot accept any more students for that grade. If you need tuition assistance, I hope you applied. We want your children to be part of the OLG family next year. Be sure to invite other families to enroll their children in OLG. For every family that you get to register and stay for the year, you receive $100 credit on your tuition.
We were supposed to have had a drawing last Friday for the raffle which began with registration in January. Unfortunately, I forgot! The drawing was held this week. A free month of tuition will be given to the parents of Ariyanna Leon; an order of gym clothing will be given to the parents of Leandro Bustos.

This evening during the 7:30 PM Mass, 21 young men and women will graduate from Our Lady of Grace. We pray that God will continue to bless these graduates as they continue their education at the secondary lever (many at Catholic high schools) and then college. Congratulations, graduates!
The "celebrations" for our preschool and kindergarten students will be held on Tuesday morning. The preschool celebration will be at 8:30 in the preschool room; the kindergarten celebration will be held at 9:30 in the school hall. Immediately following thier celebrations the students will be dismissed for the summer.
To help you with planning for next week, the following information will be helpful. All students in grades 1-7 do not need to wear their uniform on Wednesday since they will be cleaning. Students are asked to bring one or two clean cloths for cleaning. If your children can bring a bucket, that would be helpful. Students will be bringing their belongings home on Wednesday.
The last day of attendance for students in grades 1-7 is on Thursday, June 7. This is a "dress up" day for the students. They will attend Mass at 8:15. At 9:10 an awards ceremony will be held in the school hall. Following the awards ceremony, students will receive their report cards. Dismissal will be at 10:15. NO REPORT CARDS WILL BE GIVEN TO STUDENTS WHOSE TUITION AND/OR FEES HAVE NOT BEEN PAID. Only a few families fall into this category, so please try to have these financial obligations paid by Wednesday. Thank you for your cooperation.
If you have school uniforms that are in good condition (especially girl's uniform) that will no longer be worn by your children, we ask that you donate these to the school. Please bring clean uniforms on Thursday or early in the summer. If you need to purchase new uniforms for your daughter, please order these NOW from Schoolbelles at 7254 W. Foster in the Foster and Harlem Plaza. As you purchase school clothing for your sons and daughters, please do not buy sports socks. These are not part of the uniform.
I encourage all of you to please enroll your children in the summer reading program at the Chicago Public Library. Please plan as well some fun activities in which your children can use the reading and math skills that they learned this year. It is very important that your children continue to read and practice their math skills over the summer months.
Once again I want to express my thanks to all of you who volunteered at the school picnic last Friday. The day was hot, but the students didn't seem to mind. Whether you made a donation, helped int eh kitchen, helped with games or with security, you made the day possible for your children.
On Sunday in the church calendar, we celebrate the Body and Blood of Christ. In Sunday's Gospel, we read about the Last Supper when Jesus blessed and broke the bread and shared it with His Apostles as well. These are comforting and healing words that we hear at every Eucharist. Like the Apostles, the body and blood of Jesus in the Eucharist is the spiritual nourishment that sustains our lives of faith.
COME TO MASS ON SUNDAY AND HAVE YOUR INNER LIFE BE NOURISHED.
Although summer vacation begins next Thursday, we should never take a vacation from God. Please come to Mass with your family each Sunday during the summer months. This is the best nourishment that you can give to yourselves and to your family.
May the summer months be safe, restful, and relaxing for your family. May you know that the Lord Jesus will be beside you every moment of every day. See you in August!
