Friday Parent Letter 04/26/2018
There are no classes for the students tomorrow. Faculty and staff will be participating in a day of retreat. Classes will resume on Monday.
We will be having an all-school Mass at 8:15 next Friday, May 4. The students in kindergarten will be planning this Mass. We invite you to come and pray with us at this Eucharist.
On Saturday, May 5, at the 10:00 Mass, nineteen of our students will be receiving their First Communion. We congratulate the children and their families on this special occasion as they receive the Body and Blood of Christ in the Eucharist for the first time. On this happy occasion may all of us be reminded of the importance the Eucharist should play in our lives by coming to Mass each Sunday to be nourished with the Body and Blood of Christ.
Are you getting pledges for the Walk-a-Thon? The Walk-a-Thon will take place on Friday, May 11. All students must bring in a minimum of $15 in pledges. If you have not met your fundraiser fee as yet, this is a wonderful opportunity for you to secure pledges from co-workers, friends, and family to make this a successful event! Get those pledges!
If you are planning to volunteer at the Walk-a-Thon or wish to make a donation of cookies, water, or punch, please return the form before Wednesday.
Tomorrow Our Lady of Grace will be hosting an Open House for alumni and donors from 1:00-3:45. We thank those of you who have volunteered to help with this event. Following the Open House, participants will be invited to attend the 4:00 Mass.
We have five students who have been selected as semi-finalist in the Illinois Fatherhood Initiative Essay Contest. From the 5000 essays received, 156 were selected as semi-finalist, 12 from each grade level from kindergarten to 12th grade. We congratulate Joziah Camacho-grade 2, Nayeli Camacho Camacho-grade 4, Daniesl Carrera-grade 6, Gissell Arellanes and Bryan Silva-grade 8!
Have you registered your children for the 2018-2019 school year? I encourage you to do this as soon as possible. IF you applied for a Tax Credit Scholarship and have been awarded a TCS, you will be required to submit a letter from OLG to confirm your child's enrollment for next school year. Both Big Shoulders Fund and Empower Illinois have begun to notify parents if they have received a scholarship or on a waiting list. The registration fee also increases on May 15. Please do not wait! Save some money and help us with our planning for next year.
The monthly meeting of Grace's Proud Parents will be held on Wednesday evening at 7:00 in Room 104. The taco sale and school picnic will be planned. Please come and share your ideas.
Throughout the Easter season, the Gospels give us many ways to understand Jesus, our Risen Lord, the Son of God. In Sunday's Gospel, Jesus tell us that He is the vine grower. Through our faith, we are the branches connected to Jesus and to one another. Our branches of live and peace spread around the world bearing to to others the Good News of Jesus Christ
