Friday Parent Letter 04/20/2018
Dear Parents/ Guardians,
THANKS for your cooperation this past week in making certain that your children grades 3-8 were in attendance. Very few make-up tests have to be administered next week. If your children were sick this past week when the ACT Aspire Test were given, please make certain that they are in attendance next week.
The last "Family Mass" of this school year will be celebrated at 4:00 tomorrow afternoon. The students in grades 1 and 7 will be ministering at the Mass as readers and gift bearers. Students in grades 3-8, as members of the children's choir, will lead the congregation in song. Following the Mass, an ice cream social will be held in the school hall.
There will be no school on Friday. The faculty and staff will be participating in a retreat day at Misericordia.
Along with other 8th grade scholars, our 8th grade Gallagher Scholars will be taking a field trip to Rolling Meadows on Friday to visit the Gallagher Insurance offices and to enjoy lunch together. We are grateful to Mrs. Ana Avila who will accompany the students on this trip.
Next week a used "Book Fair" will be held. All books will be sold for 25 cents. Have your children purchase books for their summer reading.
On Wednesday we will participate in Administrative Assistant's Day by honoring our staff members in the office. Mrs. Sue Batka, Mrs. Teresa Covarrubias, and Ms. Candelaria Rosales give of themselves in so many ways to serve you, the teachers, and the students of OLG. We are so grateful for the dedication and service of these three women. I encourage you to show your gratitude to Sue, Teresa, and Candy in some way on Wednesday.
Walk-a-Thon packets were sent home before Easter break. I trust that you are working on securing pledges for your children's participation in the Walk-a Thon on Friday, May 11. All students are to participate and secure a minimum of $15 in pledges. We hope that each student will turn in more than $15, however, so that this can be a very successful fund raiser. The goal is to raise $8000. This is the last fund raiser for this school year and your last opportunity to meet your fund raiser fee. Any balance will be added to the May tuition payment. The volunteer/donations sheet must be returned by May 2.
On Saturday, April 28, an "Open House" will be held for alumni and donors of Our Lady of Grace School. This event will be held in the school from 1:00-3:45 PM. Alumni will gather for Mass at 4:00 in the church.
Sunday's Gospel is about Jesus, the Good Sheperd. As Christians, we have an especially intimate relationship with the Risen Lord. We recognize Him in the breaking of the bread when we celebrate the Eucharist. We know Him in the Scriptures. We know Him in prayer. We know Him in the love we share with those dear to us. We know Him in those who are poor and ill and in need. Every day and every hour of our lives, we recognize Jesus, our Good Shepherd, our Savior.
COME TO MASS ON SUNDAY AND EXPERIENCE THE LOVE OF THE GOOD SHEPERD.
