Friday October 26, 2018
Next week we will celebrate two important feasts in the Church’s liturgical calendar. Thursday is the feast of All Saints. This is a holy day of Mass obligation. Mass in English will be celebrated at 8:15 AM. Faculty and students will attend this Mass and we encourage you to join us at this Eucharist. Some of the students will be dressed as saints. A Mass in Spanish will be celebrated at 7:00 PM.
On Friday we will celebrate the feast of All Souls. Students and faculty will attend the all-school Mass at 8:15. We will pray for all those in our family and parish communities who are now enjoying eternal life. If you wish to have your departed loved ones remembered in our school Mass on Friday and the other school Masses during the month of November, please list their names on the form at the bottom of this letter and return it to school before Friday.
Tomorrow is the annual Halloween Party sponsored by Grace’s Proud Parents. The party will be held in the school hall from 11:00-2:00. Thanks to all who have volunteered to help with this event and have made donations. If you have not purchased tickets for your children, you may purchase tickets at the door for $8.
Wednesday is the last day of the month. Any student who did not have a behavioral form during the month of October may enjoy a dress down day. Except for students in preschool and kindergarten, students may not come dressed in a costume, however.
Students who were absent on the day school pictures were taken will have their pictures taken on Friday.
Next Friday elections will be held for Student Council officers and class representatives. Students interested in serving as President, Vice-President, or Secretary will give their speeches on Tuesday.
The basketball season for the OLG Bulldogs will begin the weekend of Nov. 3-4. Attached to this letter is the schedule of basketball games for the four teams. We thank the coaches who are sharing their time and talents with the students - Ricky Illescas, Carlos Rodriguez, and Steve Fuelner. Please note on the schedules that games are played at different locations.
In Sunday’s Gospel blind Bartimaeus sees what may people with 20/20 vision cannot see. In asking Jesus to give him sight, Bartimaeus recognizes Jesus as the Son of God. The curing of Bartimaeus’ physical blindness is wonderful, but the real miracle is in his spiritual awakening. This same miracle is offered to us – the faith to recognize Christ’s healing presence among us.
COME TO MASS ON SUNDAY ASKING JESUS TO INCREASE YOUR SPIRITUAL SIGHT.
