Friday Letter 03/29/2018
Dear Parents/ Guardians,
When you receive this letter, Easter vacation will have begun for the students. Classes will resume on Monday, April 9.
Today also begins the Triduum, the three most solemn days of the Church Year. I encourage you and your family to attend the services scheduled for these three days. A bi-lingual Holy Thursday Mass will be celebrated this evening at 7:00. Tomorrow is Good Friday. An English services is scheduled for 6:00 PM and a Spanish service is scheduled for 7:30 PM. The Easter Vigil on Saturday will begin at 7:00 PM. This will be bi-lingual.
As noted on the school calendar, the ACT Aspire Tests will be administered to students in grades 3-8 during the week of April 16. This gives you some time to make sure that your children are in attendance every day and on time so that makeup tests do not have to be given. Be sure your children eat a good breakfast and that they get a good night's sleep each night. Thank you.
The last "Family Mass" of this school year will be celebrated on Saturday, April 21. Students in grades 1 and 7 will actively participate in this Mass. A children's choir will lead the community in song. Any students in grades 3-8 may participate. A permission slip is being sent home with this letter. Following the Mass, an ice cream social will be held in the school hall.
With today's letter you children are bringing home Walk-a-Thon packets. Walk-a-Thon will be held on Friday, May 11. Forms include permission slips, volunteer forms, t-shirt design, t-shirt order form and pledge sheet. Most papers are due on Tuesday May 8. Every student is required to bring in a minimum of $15 in pledges to participate. This is the last fund raiser of this school year. Any balance for fund raising will be added to the May tuition.
We will reach the mid-point in the third trimester on Friday, April 13. Mid-trimester reports will be sent home Monday, April 16, to parents whose fees are paid and who are current in their tuition. If you owe tuition and/ or fees, please get these paid so that you may see how your children are progressing.
The students in the eighth grade will be having a bake sale on Thursday, April 12, to raise funds for their class trip. All items will be sold for 25 cents. Please support the students by having your children buy an item or two. Thanks.
Grace's Proud Parents will be having its monthly meeting on Wednesday evening, April 11, at 7:00 in room 104. Taco sale and school picnic will be discussed.
Sunday is Easter Sunday, the feast of the Resurrection on which our entire faith rests. The Gospel is about those first moments of awareness when Mary of Magdala, Simon Peter, and "the other disciple whom Jesus loved" discover that the tomb is empty. The tomb is empty today as it was that first Easter morning. Jesus lives! Jesus is risen! That's what we celebrate.
EXPERIENCE THE GREATEST MIRACLE IN HISTORY BY COMING TO MASS.
May the Risen Lord bestow abundant blessings upon you and your family! Happy Easter from the faculty and staff at Our Lady of Grace!
