Friday Letter 03/16/2018
Dear Parents/ Guardians,
This morning Bishop Rojas celebrated Mass with our students. Bishop Rojas is our vicar and enjoys coming to Our Lady of Grace and we are happy to have him visit us.
Thanks to all of you who were present for the awards ceremony this afternoon.
This past Sunday we celebrated Laetare (rejoice) Sunday. We rejoiced because we are halfway into the Lenten season. I trust that during this season of Lent you are growing closer to the Lord. These students will attend the Stations of the Cross on Friday afternoon at 2:00. We invite you to join them in this devotion. Please have your children return the money from their Lenten season. I trust that during this season of Lent you are growing closer to the Lord. The students will attend the Stations of the Cross on Friday afternoon at 2:00. We invite you to join the them in this devotion. Please have your children return the money from their Lenten banks on Friday.
The "Students of the Month" for March have been selected. These students are being recognized for their effort and Christ-like behavior. We congratulate Lucia Bustos, Khamila Reynoso, Melinda Borja, Cristina Gonzalez, Mayte Gonzalez, Angel Ovalle, Gregory Hazel, Julian Saenz, Anthony Perez, and Brianna Salgado.
Spring pictures will be taken next Thursday. For these spring pictures siblings may be photographed together. If you wish your children in OLG to have their picture taken together, please return the form with your children's names and grades no later than Wednesday. You received the form last Thursday. The children are not to wear green clothing. The photographer suggests bright, cheerful clothing.
Thanks to all of you who have already registered your children for 2018-2019. I encourage you to register your children as soon as possible, if you have not already completed this task. It helps us with planning and budgeting. Next Friday we have to submit our budget to the Archdioceses. If you applied to Empower Illinois for a tax credit scholarship, you should have received information concerning the second step in the process. However, please DO NOT wait to register until you receive word from Big Shoulders Fund or Empower Illinois. This may take some time since these SGOs' cannot release funds until their donors actually make their donations.
In Sunday's Gospel, Jesus clearly explains what the life of a believer is all about: conversion. If we believe in Jesus Christ, we experience conversion every day. We constantly grow to become alive in His name in the service of others. Jesus says that only when the grain falls and dies in the ground will it produce fruit. When we let our self-focus die, our lives bring forth the fruit of love and service in Jesus' name.
In these last few weeks of Lent, serve others in a way you would rather avoid.
COME TO MASS ON SUNDAY AND EXPERIENCE GOD'S LOVE.
