Friday Letter 02/23/2018
Dear Parents/ Guardians,
We have reached the end of the second trimester today. Report cards will be given on Thursday to those parents who are scheduled for conferences. If you requested a conference and/ or if your children's teachers requested a conference with you, you are receiving a copy of your schedule today. Please keep this in a safe place and bring it with you on Thursday evening. If you are not coming for a conference, report cards will be distributed on Friday. Whether attending a conference or not, report cards will only be given if tuition and fees are up to date. If you are delinquent in your payments, please take care of this before next Thursday so that you can receive report cards for your children.
Please make an adjustment on your calendar. There will be no classes for the students on Friday March 9.
Tomorrow evening at 4:00, the third "Family Mass" of this school year will be celebrated. Students in grades 3 and 5 will be actively ministering. Following the Mass, there will be a social in the school hall. We encourage all of our families to be present at this Mass and the social.
Have you registered your children in OLG for 2018-2019? If not, I encourage you to do this as soon as possible. Registration fees increase April 1. Also, the earlier you register your children, the earlier you and your children can benefit from the incentives being offered- a weekly dress down day on Mondays for your children and your name entered more times into the raffle. Also, if you are awarded a tax credit scholarship, you will have to produce documentation that indicates in which school your children are enrolled for 2018-2019. Hopefully, some of you have been awarded a scholarship through the Big Shoulders Fund SGO. However, if you think you will need to apply for tuition assistance for next school year, help in submitting the application to FACTS will be provided on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. The deadline for submitting applications for tuition assistance is March 29. To submit an application, your children must be registered in OLG for 2018-2019.
As mentioned above, Parent/Teacher/ Students Conferences will be held on Thursday evening beginning at 5:00PM. We thank those of you who are partnering with your children's teachers to help in the academic progress of your children by attending these conferences.
Candy orders for the spring candy sale are due on Tuesday. Because of the early dare for Easter, the date of the spring candy sale had to be adjusted. There remains one more fundraiser for this school year- the Walk-a-Thon in May. Every student must participate in this fundraiser and bring in a minimum of $15 in pledges for the Walk-a-Thon.
An all school Mass will be celebrated at 8:15 on Friday. Because this is the season of Lent, we encourage you to attend this Mass. Students in first grade have planned this Mass.
Students will be attending the Stations of the Cross on Friday afternoon at 2:00 in the church. All are welcome to join us in praying this Lenten devotion.
Sunday's Gospel is about the Transfiguration. Peter, James, and John are given a special glimpse of Jesus. They see the glorified Jesus and hear the divine voice claim Jesus as beloved. "This is my beloved Son. Listen to Him." AS we journey through these days of Lent, which will lead to the commemoration of Jesus' suffering and death and the celebration of His Resurrection, we never lose sight of the Glorified Jesus, the Beloved Son of the Father. This is the Jesus who is with us always.
COME TO MASS ON SUNDAY AND KNOW THAT YOU ARE THE BELOVED OF THE LORD.
