December 20, 2018
Dear Parents/ Guardians,
Christmas vacation begins tomorrow with the 11:30 dismissal. Students will return to classes on Monday, January 7.
As we celebrate the birth of Jesus on Christmas, may you and your family be blessed abundantly with gifts of love, peace, joy, and hope. May these blessings continue to be yours in 2019!
I encourage you and your family to begin your Christmas celebrations by attending the Mass of Angels and Sheperds on Monday, December 24, at 4:00 PM. Students will minister at this Mass as readers, servers, altar servers, angels, sheperds, and choir members. This is an ideal time to attend Mass. You can have dinner as a family after the Mass and then get the children to bed to await the arrival of Santa.
Father Larry Gorski, who has been a weekend associate at Our Lady of Grace for over 26 years, is retiring from active ministry. Father Larry has celebrated most of the Family Masses. Father Larry's last Masses at OLG will be on the weekend of Dec. 29-30. There will be a reception after the 4:00 Mass on Saturday, December 29 and another reception after the 8:30 Mass on Sunday, December 30. Come and extend your gratitude to Father Larry for his year of service.
In this season of giving, we thank:
those who helped with the Breakfast with Santa
those who attended the Christmas Concert on Wednesday evening
those who contributed to the Teacher's Christmas Fund
A couple of weeks ago I noted in the parent letter that Father Elvio asked that raffle tickets be given to students in grades 6-8. We just received the tickets. The raffle tickets sell for $5. Half of sales of these tickets will be given to OLG School. Any unsold tickets must be returned to OLG. I stated that you can use the sale of these raffle tickets towards your fundraiser fee. Any family who has students in grades PK- grade 5 can also sell these raffle tickets. All you need to do is call the office and ask for the tickets. The dinner dance is Saturday, February 16. Let us help to make this event a success.
When we return after the Christmas vacation, the following will take place.
Grace's Proud Parents will hold it's monthly meeting on Wednesday, January 9, at 7:00 in Room 104.
We will reach mid-point in the second trimester on Friday, January 11.
The Krispy Kreme fund raiser will begin on Friday, January 11. Orders with money will be due on Wednesday, January 23.
Sunday is the last Sunday of Advent. In the Gospel, we hear Mary's response to God's invitation to become the mother of Jesus. Her reward was a life of inner peace and happiness. Our unqualified acceptance of Jesus will bring us the same reward.
As we wait for the feast of Christmas, the faculty and myself wish you and your family a very blessed and joy-filled Christmas and a Happy New Year!
